Chemotherapy Support

Many people fear chemotherapy because of the side effects and what they have heard from others. Usually, most side affects can be managed with other medication. Different chemotherapy drugs have fewer side effects than others. Chemotherapy has come a long way from the way it used to be.

Support is important because of what the patient is going through. It is important that the patients of chemotherapy can depend on others to help them with the things they need, like driving to doctor's appointments, cooking, and shopping. It is also just as important that the patient has someone who understands what they are going through and can help them with that. Chemotherapy can bring major changes to people's lives and sometimes they just need someone they can turn to besides a family member; the patient might not feel comfortable talking about certain subjects with family members.

People sometimes need help dealing with side effects like fatigue, nausea, depression, anger, anxiety, and all kinds of other emotional issues that chemotherapy can cause. These feelings can be perfectly normal and people can draw from others in support groups. There are many kinds of counselors who can help express, understand, and help you cope with your feelings. If a person is depressed, it is important to seek professional help. Just remember, things will not always be the way they are today; with chemotherapy, things will get better.
