First Time Grandmothers

Being a first time grandmother must be an experience beyond description. One must be so very excited and happy. Imagine, that little baby boy or girl of your baby’s (son or daughter’s) that is in fact a part of you. Most first time grandmothers are filled with joy and pride.

The first time grandmother will probably put everything aside just to be with the grandchild, look at his or her little fingers and cute little smiling face. By the time most women reach the age of becoming a grandma, she would be much more giving and forgiving than the time she was bringing up her own children. This is the time that all the grandmothers enjoy the most. That is because there is usually no busy and stressful life schedule holding you down. Life can be more relaxed and enjoyed. People say that you are stricter with your own children than you are with your grandchildren.

First, you will be addressed as “grandma,” “grandmother,” or whatever you would like to go by. This is often based upon what the baby is able to call you first when they start to talk. You are now a fully grown, mature, and even more responsible individual than you used to be. You will be that kind, loving, nurturing and older figure (than your son or your daughter) for you grandchild to look up to. You will be someone who will always comfort him or her at time of sadness and trouble. Grandma has always been a portrait of a more understanding and caring person for their grandchildren. So take it in and savor the moments with as you become a grandmother.
