Today, more then 186,000 men in the United States will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Prostate cancer affects one out of every six men. Men must get tested by the time they are 50, if no one in our families have prostate cancer. If there is prostate cancer history, get to your doctor and get checked; prostate cancer can be cured if caught soon enough.
There are things that can be done to help fight off prostate cancer such as change your eating habits. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, lean meats, and watch your weight and cholesterol.
One way to stay positive is to realize that there is a cure if you get checked often and do your home work. Learn as much as you can and be part of the cure. Work with your doctor and ask questions so you understand what is going on. If you are informed, the cancer is not so scary.
Another way to stay positive is to share your experience with your family. Keep them in the loop. People are afraid to talk about prostate cancer because they think people will laugh at them. This cancer does not have anything to do with sexual practices. It is a cancer where the cells in the prostate grow uncontrollably and need to be slowed down and stopped. This cancer has a 90% cure rate.
Another way to stay positive about having prostate cancers is to realize that even many of the stars and professional people have been treated for prostate cancer and have survived such as Joe Torre, Robert DeNiro, Rudy Giuliani, Arnold Palmer, Nelson Mandela and Robert Goulet.
