Losing someone close to you is extremely hard, but losing your lover, best friend or your spouse is one of the hardest things you could have to deal with in your life. It's not easy to move on with your own life without that person in it, but you have to.
There are a couple of things you should do while grieving the lose of your spouse. First off, make sure you cry. It's very natural to cry and a big help, even when you feel like it's not working. Second, talk about it with anyone you can. When talking about a tragic moment in your life, it is hard, but it helps you without you even knowing. Make sure to start a journal. Just start writing all the things you can remember about that person, from the time you met them to the time you lost them. Remembering the great memories is a natural healing processes. Plus, you can show it to people that never had the chance to meet you wonderful spouse. Also, do get out of the house. Do not stay by yourself inside all the time. Get out and be good to yourself. Go to dinner with friends and family, go shopping, or even just go for a walk. Being surrounded by people and things you love will help in every way possible. And finally, don't lose control over your own life. If you have older children, don't let them try to come in and run "your life"; you can do it yourself. Plus, it will get you use to doing things on your own. It might be hard, but it's all a learning process.
Dealing with the lose of your spouse will just take time. Just remember to take things one day at a time and to take your time; there is no hurry to get things done. Think about yourself and treat yourself right.
