Rachael Ray is most famously known for her Food Network television special “Thirty Minute Meals”. Her goal is to make a healthy meal in thirty minutes - from start to finish!
Rachael began her career in New York by teaching cooking lessons. With the publication of her first cookbook of thirty-minute meals, the public showed interest.
Rachael claims the idea for thirty-minute meals came from her friends. "They complained about working all day and being too tired to spend a lot of time in the kitchen when they got home," Ray stated. She worked to invent meals that took approximately thirty minutes from the beginning stages of preparation to the finishing touches of plating.
Ray's empire has extended to include a series of television shows, including "Thirty Minute Meals", "40 Dollars A Day", "Tasty Travels", a talk show entitled "Rachael Ray", as well as several publications of cookbooks, a cooking magazine called "Everyday With Rachael", and her website rachaelray.com
Through the many seasons of her shows, Ray has coined several sayings and abbreviations for cooking ingredients. For example, Rachael says "Yum-O!" to suggest the food is delicious, "just eyeball it" - which suggests that the chef merely assume from looking and not measuring that they are using the correct amount of ingredients, "half a palm full" which again suggests a method of measurement, and "EVOO". EVOO is Ray's abbreviated way of telling the chef to use extra virgin olive oil.
To get to any of her recipes should be easy. Deciding which recipe to make would be hard. Some of Rachael sayings are “yum-o, just eye-ball it, once around the pan, a half a palm full, and evoo.
